Katungi Wilson, professionally known as Katson K Music, is a dynamic Ugandan artist born on October 18, 2002, in Isingiro District, Uganda. His upbringing in Isingiro, a region with a rich cultural heritage, played a significant role in shaping his artistic identity. From an early age, Katungi demonstrated a strong passion for music and storytelling, participating in school performances and local cultural events. These early experiences laid the groundwork for a career that would eventually span music, film, and various creative endeavors. His journey into the arts has been marked by persistence, talent, and a deep-rooted commitment to inspiring others through his work.
Katungi received his secondary education at Ntanda College School in Butambala District, where he studied electroengineering. Despite the technical focus of his studies, his dedication to music and the creative arts remained unwavering. While at Ntanda, he took part in various artistic activities, balancing academic life with his musical pursuits. His background in engineering has given him a unique approach to music production, allowing him to incorporate innovative techniques and methods in his craft. Currently, he is a student at Makerere University in Kampala, one of Uganda’s most prestigious institutions, where he continues to develop both academically and artistically.
In 2022, Katungi made his official entry into the Ugandan music scene with the release of his debut single, “Tujjakubikola.” The song was well received by audiences, earning him recognition and encouraging him to continue pursuing music professionally. Since then, he has gone on to release additional tracks such as “Winner” and “Webale,” each carrying a unique message of resilience, gratitude, and self-belief. His music blends genres including soft RnB, urban Zuku, gospel, and inspirational music, creating a sound that is both modern and deeply emotional. The piano plays a central role in his arrangements, with many of his songs featuring melodic piano lines that add depth and emotion.
Katungi’s versatility as an artist extends beyond music. He is also a songwriter, movie writer, director, and actor. His work in film began to draw attention with the 2024 release of the short film “The War of Love,” a school-based drama that explores themes of love, hypocrisy, and power dynamics. He co-wrote the script, directed the film, and acted in it, taking on the role of a school bursar. The project demonstrated his ability to weave complex narratives and showcased his commitment to storytelling through multiple mediums. His involvement in this film has been praised for its creativity and social relevance.
As a performer, Katungi has appeared at notable events such as the Ray G Festival and the Ntamiivi Concert held on Easter Sunday 2024.
