Uganda’s retired Chief Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe has received an appointment to the International Commercial Court Expert Committee of the Supreme People’s Court of China.

Judicial officers will have to wait a little longer before their salaries can be raised as there are more pressing issues, President Yoweri Museveni has revealed. The president was this morning addressing the 21st annual judges’ conference at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The Chief Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe has cautioned the Commission of inquiry into land matters led by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire to learn the use professional communication channels when dealing with matters of National importance, and not just rant in the press.

Bart Magunda Katureebe, the Chief Justice has called for increased funding and speedy consideration of the judiciary administration bill in order to facilitate the independence of the judiciary.
