Nash Y, whose real name is Matunga Gerald, is an emerging Ugandan recording artist from Mbale City in Eastern Uganda. Born and raised in the Eastern region, Nash Y is building his identity through music that connects with his culture, language, and experiences.

 

Nash Y officially began his music career in 2026, introducing himself to the music scene with his debut song, “Nusome.” The song is performed in Lugisu, and its title means “Read and Go to School.” Through the song, Nash Y delivers an encouraging message about the importance of education while bringing his local language and cultural identity into contemporary Ugandan music.

 

As a young artist from Eastern Uganda, Nash Y aims to use his music to represent his roots while reaching audiences across Uganda and beyond. His journey is just beginning, with “Nusome” marking the first chapter of what he hopes will become a lasting music career.
