Shawa, whose real name is Ssali Shaufaruh, is a Ugandan creative artist with a strong mind, a big vision and a story built on resilience.

Coming from a struggling background, Shawa has learned that life does not always give people an easy beginning. His journey has been about finding a way to use the talents he has to create a better life for himself and the people around him.

Born in the Bombo/Kalule area and raised in Nansana, Wakiso District, Shawa grew up with a strong interest in creativity and entertainment. He attended Nansana Central Academy, later studied at Alliance High School in Nansana and completed his A-Level education at Ngando Senior Secondary School. He also pursued technical training in mechanical engineering at City Polytechnic Institute in Kyengera.

But for Shawa, creativity has always been more than a way of entertaining people. It is a way of expressing himself, telling stories and building opportunities.

Over the years, many people have known Shawa through entertainment and comedy. However, his journey is bigger than one thing he has been known for. Behind the public personality is a young creative who wants to explore music, performance, storytelling, ideas and different forms of art.

Shawa believes that where you come from should not decide where you will end up.

His story is about resilience, growth and using talent as a way forward. He understands struggle, but he also understands the importance of believing in yourself when opportunities are limited.

In 2026, Shawa entered a new chapter in his creative journey after signing with Sky Walker Music, a new record label established in 2026. This partnership represents a new direction for his career and gives him a platform to develop himself as an artist and explore music on a bigger level.

Shawa is not trying to be defined by his past. He is building a new identity around his creativity, his experiences and his desire to do better.

His goal is simple: to turn his talent into something meaningful, build a better future and inspire other young people who come from difficult backgrounds to believe that their story can change.
