Jamal Hussein, popularly known as Star Jamal, is a young Ugandan artist born on 14th April 2008. He grew up in Bwera, Kasese District, in the western region of Uganda, near the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. From an early age, Jamal showed a deep passion for music and dreamed of becoming a successful artist.
In 2018, before the COVID-19 pandemic, Star Jamal began his music journey, slowly building his talent and confidence. Despite facing challenges at a young age, he remained focused on his dream. His breakthrough came with his first hit song titled “Byebimu,” which introduced him to a wider audience and marked the beginning of his rising career.
In 2022, while sitting for his Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Bwera, Jamal experienced a heartbreaking loss when his mother passed away on 20th March 2022. This moment deeply affected his life, but it also strengthened his determination to succeed and make her proud.
After this loss, he was raised and supported by Ramzo Rafik, a hardworking young entrepreneur and CEO of Bwera Online TV, who took on a guardian role like a father. With this support, Jamal continued to pursue both education and music.
He later joined Sudais Muslim Secondary School in Bwera, where he balanced his studies with his growing music career. Known for his resilience, passion, and big dreams, Star Jamal continues to work hard to build his name in the music industry.
Today, he stands as an inspiring young talent from Kasese, proving that even through hardship, determination and belief in one’s dream can lead to greatness.
