Horror and sorrow hit Ibanda district after three people were confirmed dead and five others missing under gold mine in Nyarukiika Rukiri Sub County Ibanda district on Monday.
So far, five people who include Ruhinda Mwine Fende, Mujurizi mwine Bigirwa, Kakuru Ko omugyenzi Kiiza kya Kyareta, Busingye Mwine Yusito, and Deo from Buhweju have been confirmed missing.
An eye witness also tells us that unfortunately Busingye whose body was pulled out together with other two was only helping police to rescue the initial two who were earlier trapped.
It is estimated that the mine is about 60 ft deep and the dead were using a water pump to empty the deadly pit.
