Seventeen inmates from Katojo prison are in agony after they were injured in a road accident in Fort Portal. The accident happened today morning at Harubaho along the Fort Portal -Kamwenge road, as the inmates were being transported from Katojo Prison to Gweri, Karambi Sub County to work in a farm belonging to Paul Kasende, the Director Private Sector Development and Consultancy Centre, Fort Portal branch.

According to Richard Mugenyi an eye witness, Kasende who was driving a double cabin pickup, registration number UAE 203Y had parked on the side of the road, when one of the trucks registration number UAY 699Q belonging to China Railway Seventh Group, which is constructing the Fort Portal - Kamwenge road, rammed into him injuring the prisoners and a prison warder who were seated behind.

The prisoners were rushed to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital, some with broken limbs.
