Ugandan-based South African news anchor Victoria Sibiya has expressed concern after thieves reportedly broke into her new home just a week after she moved in.
The media personality, who has built a name in Uganda’s broadcasting industry, said the latest incident came after she had moved out of another house where she had lived for only five months before it was broken into.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Sibiya questioned the growing number of home robberies in Kampala, saying she had lost several valuables, including her laptop and electronics, in the earlier incident.
“What is happening in Kampala? The spate of home robberies is becoming deeply concerning.
“I moved out of a house where I had lived for just five months after it was broken into and almost everything inside was stolen, including my laptop and electronics.
“I moved to a completely different area. I’ve been in my new home for ONE WEEK. This morning, I woke up to find my doors open. I had been robbed AGAIN.
“I honestly don’t know what to make of this anymore.
“Is this becoming a common experience for people in Kampala? Are these isolated incidents, or is there a bigger security problem that needs urgent attention?” she wrote.
The repeated incidents have left Sibiya questioning the security situation in the city. Close friends reportedly revealed that among the items stolen during the latest robbery was a box of underwear.
