Controversial MP Kato Lubwama who trounced seasoned opposition politician, the Conservative Party (CP) president John Ken Lukyamuzi, is likely to lose his seat.
The latest information to hit our gossip desks has it that Kato Lubwama has no Ordinary Level Certificate of education (O’level).
We have learnt, a political activist took him to court claiming he lacks the minimum academic qualifications to be a legislator.
Through the Center for Legal Aid (CLA), an organization that provides free legal services, Habib Buwembo, the activist, contends that Lubwama failed his O-level exams and was not awarded a Uneb certificate.
According to information available, Kato Lubwama, who was then known as Paul Kato sat his O’level examinations at Old Kampala Senior Secondary School in 1988, but did not pass any subject, Paul Kato failed. He later changed his name arrangement to Kato Lubwama to which he was rightly advised to take an avid aft before he joined politics.
The political activist argues the diploma in Music, Dance and Drama, that he obtained from Makerere University and which he used as a basis for nomination is null and void. On October 7, Uneb in a letter to CLA confirmed that the grades Lubwama obtained at O-level were not sufficient for him to be awarded a certificate.
We have further learnt, Kato may end up in prison because the case involves both civil and criminal elements (uttering false documents).
Hearing of this matter kicks off on October 31 at the High court, Kampala.
