Kassim Ssebaduka the chairperson Park Yard Market vendors has denied reports that he has been paid money to help fellow vendors shift to new markets.

Mr. Ssebadduka says he is also a victim like others and does not support the evictions. According to reports, the chairman was given money by the land developer Mr. Ham to transport traders’ merchandize.

However, the chairman explains that he never received such money, but if people need it, he will speak to the Nakivubi stadium board to give them such money.

On Sunday, market leaders had a meeting with the Minister for Kampala Betty Kamya and tycoon Ham. But Ssebadduka explains that they were offered new space in Usafi, Wandegeya and on top of Mr. Ham’s building in town.

Minister Kamya, confirmed that indeed money was given to market leaders to hand to vendors to transport their merchandise to their new work stations. However, in the wee hours of Monday, stalls were destroyed and all merchandize in it, leaving traders in tears.

Mr. Ssebadduka, could not explain to the media, where the traders’ money went, neither did he confirm receipt of the said money.
