The Prime Minister of the Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga, is one of the most criticized leaders in Uganda.

He is criticized by those in government and various people in the opposition who claim he is aligned with the government.

Mayiga has spoken about how NUP supporters pressured him to declare that the 2021 general elections were unfair. However, he says he declined because that is not his responsibility.

"After the election, some NUP supporters pressured me to declare that the election was unfair, but I didn’t. I’m not the Electoral Commission," he explained in an interview with Sanyuka Television.

The Katikkiro also emphasized that he is not the first person to be criticized. He says even those who came before him faced criticism, but it wasn't as widely known as it is today because there was no social media at the time.

"I’m not the first Katikkiro to be criticized; it’s largely because of social media, which didn’t exist in the past," he explained.
