Media personality Edwin Katamba, popularly known as Mc Kats, has accused Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) of alleged corruption and mismanagement of funds meant for creatives.

Mc Kats, who says he is currently going through serious financial struggles, claims that Kenzo — who heads the UNMF — misappropriated government funds that were intended to support artists, instead sharing the money among himself and a small circle of associates.

According to Mc Kats, Kenzo falsely claimed that UGX 10 million had been given to him and UGX 15 million to musician Fille, yet neither of them ever received the money.

The outspoken television host has now called on government authorities to investigate and arrest Kenzo, demanding a full account of the funds.

“When I say ‘protecting the gains,’ I don’t mean we should ignore the pain. People are given government money to protect the gains but instead they take it for themselves. UNMF said they gave Fille 15 million and me 10 million — where did that money go? Can the government bring these people to account?” Mc Kats wrote.

The allegations have reignited debate within the creative industry over transparency and accountability in organizations entrusted with public funds.

As of now, Eddy Kenzo and UNMF have not officially responded to the accusations.
