Gagamel boss Moses Saali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has weighed in on the growing trend of Ugandan musicians staging concerts at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
Bebe Cool said he is pleased to see artistes moving beyond their comfort zones and taking on bigger venues such as Kololo, arguing that such events help raise the profile of Uganda's music industry.
However, he believes the financial returns from the venue may not be as attractive because of the high costs involved in organising shows there.
“I think I have done Kololo before, it has nothing for me to prove. I will be happy to see the success of people at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. I know they don't make money out of such an event, but it's good for the industry, to create hype,” he partly said.
Bebe Cool Advises Artistes to Prioritise Profits
Despite supporting the growing trend, Bebe Cool urged musicians to pay closer attention to the financial side of their concerts.
He advised artistes to consider more affordable venues and explore revenue streams such as table sales instead of relying heavily on ordinary ticket sales.
According to the veteran singer, choosing a cheaper venue could allow artistes to reduce expenses while maximising their profits from successful concerts.
Bebe Cool's comments come as Kololo Ceremonial Grounds continues to attract some of Uganda's biggest concerts, with the venue increasingly becoming a benchmark for artistes seeking to stage large-scale shows.
