Outgoing Member of Parliament for Mawokota South, Yusuf Nsibambi, has criticised the quality of opposition legislators recently elected in the Buganda region, saying many of them are not fit to serve in Parliament.

Nsibambi made the remarks after losing his seat to NRM’s Suzan Nakawuki in the just-concluded general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Sanyuka Television, Nsibambi expressed disappointment in the calibre of opposition MPs who swept several seats across Buganda.

“Most opposition MPs elected in Buganda aren’t even fit to be councillors. It’s that terrible at the moment,” Nsibambi said.

He also conceded defeat to Nakawuki, noting that his loss was partly due to unrealistic voter expectations and what he described as petty reasons.

“I lost badly. The problem is that people demand things that are not always possible, and many didn’t vote for me because of petty reasons,” he added.

Nsibambi has served as the Member of Parliament for Mawokota South in Mpigi District and was seeking another term in the 2026 elections.
