Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi has announced the passing of Edith Katende, the wife of Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro.
In a statement shared on his social media, Bobi Wine revealed that Edith passed away in the early hours of Wednesday after a prolonged battle with cancer.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our dear sister and comrade… Edith passed on after 3:00am following a hard-fought battle with cancer,” part of the statement read.
He also highlighted that at the time of her passing, her husband remains detained at Luzira Upper Prison, a situation he described as unjust.
Edith Katende was widely admired for her resilience and unwavering support for her husband, who has been vocal on issues of justice and governance.
The couple tied the knot in 2022 at Namirembe Cathedral, before hosting a reception at One Love Beach Busabala.
Her passing has drawn sympathy from many, with tributes pouring in to honor her life and strength.
