Singer Pretty Banks has weighed in on the debate over women dating men who do not own homes, revealing that she has no problem being with a man who is still renting.
Her comments come after relationship advice from Susan Makula Bujjingo went viral, with Makula urging women to reconsider relationships with men who are still renting.
Pretty Banks, however, disagrees with that approach, arguing that owning a house should not be the main measure of a man’s suitability as a partner.
According to the singer, qualities such as love, support, generosity, understanding and having shared goals are more important in a relationship.
“It isn’t a big deal. Do you like your man? Does he support you? Is he generous? Do you understand each other? Do you have a shared dream? That’s what matters,” she said.
Pretty Banks added that she would be comfortable dating a man who rents, particularly if he is financially responsible and using his resources to build other investments.
“I can’t be focusing on him not having a house. What if he built apartments on that land and he’s earning money there?” she added.
