The police is hunting for a music promoter for allegedly assaulting a female musician, Sarah Namukwaya aka G-Snake after she declined to perform at a music show.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango has said that Frank Jay popularly known as DJ Frank is wanted for allegedly assaulting Namukwaya on Monday night after a disagreement at a show organized at Real Bar in Kajjansi along Entebbe Road.
Namukwaya, popular for performing with snakes on stage was admitted at Kampala Hospital with a swollen face and bearing multiple bruises she sustained during the scuffle.
Onyango said that Namukwaya's manager who is also her husband Ronald Kalibbala has made a statement at Kajjansi police plus other witnesses and a case of assault has been filed against Jay.
He has said Kalibbala had also picked police forms that were supposed to be filled at the hospital.
"We are looking for the suspect although we have not yet arrested him," Onyango said.
Kalibbala has told the New Vision that Namukwaya was discharged but she was taken back to hospital on Wednesday for review.
He has said that they’re working with the police to hunt down the suspect but their efforts have yielded nothing yet since he was not at his studio located along Salaam Road in Makindye division.
According to Kalibbala, Namukwaya was invited to the show for 'guest appearance' but she was surprised when her name was announced later indicating that she was supposed to perform, which she had not been told.
"We had agreed that she would be paid shs300,000 or 400,000 for guest appearance but when they insisted that she performs, we decided to leave the venue which could have angered Jay," Kalibbala explained.
The suspect, according to Kalibbala, attacked the singer while she was seated in the car and punched her in the face, accusing her of leaving without performing.
"I jumped out of the driver's seat to rescue her but the man fled," Kalibbala explained.
