Kampala traders plying their business in park yard market are still stranded after they lost their merchandize in a night time raid by security officials.

Police heavily deployed last night as stalls were being destroyed and all merchandize thrown out leaving it unrecognizable to the owners.

This morning, several traders rushed to the area and tried to save a few remaining goods but for most of them, it was too late. This left many of them in tears.

Mothers were seen wailing, calling upon president Museveni to save them from an eviction he is accused of fuelling. According to Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Museveni handed the land to business man Ham for re-development.

However, the over 10,000 traders argue they have the capacity to re-develop the land too. Kampala minister Betty Kamya last Tuesday issued an ultimatum, asking all traders to vacate the market in 30 days, but today’s actions left many confused as the days are far from over.

Traders however blame their leaders for what they term as selling them out after receiving 500,000 Shillings from government.

Currently, Lord Mayor and councilors are moving down town to assess the situation.
