Singer Maddox Ssematimba has been flowing in turbulent waters ever since his return in 2009 to Uganda following his deportation from Sweden where his family lives. On returning to Uganda, Maddox tried to maintain a high life but he failed and resorted to drugs. He came to prominence in the early 2000’s with local reggae songs ‘Namagembe’ and ‘Nakatudde’ that became an anthem in Uganda
On Good Friday, Maddox put up an electrifying performance at Imperial Royal Hotel in a show that was organised by promoter Balaam Barugahare.
His energetic performance left Sisimuka Uganda CEO, Frank Gashumba praising the music legend.”He is the best Vocalist and musician Uganda has ever produced”, said Gashumba posted on Facebook.
He continued “Uganda has talent! Yes, Uganda has talent!!! On Friday evening, I attended Maddox Ssematimba concert at Imperial Royale Hotel. To me, it was the best live concert I have ever attended in my entire life!! I will do anything to attend it again! I used to play Maddox’s music in my car and Sheilah used to ask me why I used to play his music nonstop as if there were no other artistes. She never understood the music but to my surprise now Sheila sings along to all his songs! She acknowledges to the fact that Maddox is Uganda's number one vocalist and she is the one who actually reminded me about the concert that attending it is a MUST. BTW don't forget the king of the jungle, Jose Chameleone who himself says he respects Maddox. I wish Balaam Entertainment OR KT promotions come up with a show of Afrigo band and Maddox on one show. It will be the best concert ever! Thank you Fenon Events, UB5 (The band) and Balaam for a great show. I enjoyed to the maximum!"
Do you believe Frank's claims?
