A soap opera, soapie or soap is a serial drama on television or radio that features related storylines about the lives of multiple characters. The stories typically focus on emotional relationships to the point of melodrama. The name "soap opera" stemmed from the sponsorship of many earlier radio serials by soap manufacturers. Note that notwithstanding the use of the word opera in the term, soap operas generally do not have singing, musical numbers (in many cases the only music during some programs is the opening and closing theme), or any of the elements of classical opera save romantic and often tragic plots.
In Uganda for example the love for soaps grew stronger when Ntv Uganda started showing Second Chance a.k.a. La Lomenta and it went on and on, soap after soap, until all tv stations realized it’s the way to go if you want more viewers for your tv station.
One thing common with all soaps is love make ups and break ups where by the characters live a luxurious perfect life, good house, six pack men and gorgeous women are all over the place. This has however brain washed most of our ladies to the extent of them living a dream and failing to differentiate between fantasy and real life.
What’s crazy though is that when you collide with a soap just because you don’t want your girls to feel bad trust me you’re going to be bombarded with statements like,
Wow I love his moustache , His cute and I want a guy like that one, I think I should get a guy with a six pack and one who can cook and take me out on vacation, Look all those guys are handsome, I want my kids to be brought up in such a house , the list is endless.
Ladies give us a break and open your eyes, this is Uganda and get to know that you’re in Africa where something’s are inevitable like dating a sugar daddy with only one pack not six, loving a workaholic man who sh33ts in his pants after taking much liquor and last but not list accept who you’re and be thankful for whatever man you have because men are scarce thank you.
Hope y’all come to a vote and change some things and remember just be who you really are.
