Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Betty Nambooze has warned artists who are pushing for copyright law to stop hobnobbing with the government.

Nambooze stressed that there will be no implementation of this law if artists don’t stand up for themselves and also stop picking small tokens from Gen Saleh in Gulu.

“When you go to Gulu, you get small money to blind you. You need to focus on the bigger agenda,” she said.

Nambooze made her remarks during Kato Lubwama’s funeral service on Wednesday.

She said that Lubwama started the fight for copyright law but it has still failed because young artists sabotage it.

“Whenever this issue is brought up, young singers usually say, how shall we survive? Copyright benefits all but younger musicians find it easier to get by now without it,” she concluded.
