On Monday this week, the High Court of Uganda nullified Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola as the elected Member of Parliament representing the Kawempe North constituency in Kampala. The nullification came after a successful petition by NRM's Nambi Farida Kigongo.
Court Judge Bernard Namanya ruled that the by-election held in March 2025 failed to comply with the Parliamentary Elections Act. He noted that the irregularities significantly affected the outcome of the vote, prompting the annulment of Luyimbazi's election.
However, Nalukoola has already notified the court of his intention to appeal the matter in the Court of Appeal. Even with the appeal notice, various individuals, including Mukiibi Sadat, commonly known as Aganaga, have already expressed their desire to run in the by-election if it takes place.
He confirmed his readiness through social media despite his displeasure with the court's outcome.
"BANO TEBASWALA" KAWEMPE NORTH FOR MUKIIBI SADAT 🔑 #ProtestVote," he wrote.
Kalifah Aganaga was a candidate representing FDC in the by-elections, which took place in March this year. They were organized to replace Muhammad Segirinya, who passed away in January this year.
