Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo has openly stated that artistes affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP) will no longer receive financial support from the federation.
Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, Kenzo clarified that despite being his vice president, Pallaso — along with other musicians known to support NUP — is now ineligible for federation funding.
Kenzo explained that the federation’s operations are financed by the NRM government, and therefore, it would be illogical to channel funds to individuals politically aligned with the ruling party’s opponents.
“I want people to understand that the funds we are working with come from the NRM government. The government cannot invest in its enemy. That’s why NUP-leaning artistes cannot access this money,” Kenzo stated.
Among those affected are Pallaso and Fik Fameica, who have publicly rallied behind the National Unity Platform and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, in the upcoming elections.
The duo has been actively performing at Bobi Wine’s rallies and endorsing him on social media, a move that has now seemingly cost them access to UNMF financial support.
