With the 2026 elections looming, NTV Uganda announced on Wednesday that it will host a national presidential debate on November 30, 2025, inviting all official candidates to present their visions for the country, including current President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and opposition figures.
In response, opposition leader Bobi Wine publicly confirmed his participation, stating he is ready to challenge Museveni head-on on substantive national issues. In a social-media post, Bobi Wine declared:
“I will be there to share our vision for a New Uganda and to challenge Dictator Museveni on whatever new lies he wants to tell the people of Uganda after 40 years of deception and failed promises. See you then!”
Bobi Wine’s confirmation has already stirred the political atmosphere, with many anticipating a heated exchange. Some citizens — and analysts alike — have expressed skepticism that President Museveni will appear, citing tensions between him and media houses linked to editorial policies, including NTV Uganda and its sister publication.
Whether Museveni shows up or not, the debate promises to spotlight contrasting visions for Uganda’s future and could shape media and voters’ perceptions ahead of election season.
