Seasoned media personality Douglas Lwanga has made a strong case for Uganda's creative industry, arguing that skilled DJs can earn significantly more than many professionals in conventional corporate jobs.

Lwanga, who has spent nearly 15 years in the entertainment industry, says he speaks from experience. He currently runs Purple Skills Klinic in Kampala, an institution that equips young people with practical skills in various fields, including the creative arts.

The celebrated presenter explained that professional DJs are quietly making impressive incomes, with a single night's work capable of earning them more than many office workers make in an entire month.

“A professional DJ in Uganda can earn UGX 1 million for a two-hour gig and perform up to three gigs in one night. Tell me, which corporate job pays that much?” he challenged.

His remarks have resonated with many young Ugandans weighing their career options, especially those who have been discouraged from pursuing creative professions in favor of traditional white-collar jobs.

Through Purple Skills Klinic, Lwanga says he is committed to helping young people develop marketable creative skills and turn their talents into sustainable sources of income.
