Swangz Avenue singer Vinka has advised upcoming musicians not to expect instant success after signing with a record label.
Speaking on a YouTube podcast while reflecting on Zafaran's departure from Swangz Avenue, Vinka said joining a record label is only the first step, stressing that long-term success depends on the artist's commitment and work ethic.
According to the singer, record labels invest heavily in new talent, but no amount of financial support can replace an artist's determination to build a strong personal brand.
“Someone has gambled on your talent. They don't know if their money will come back or not. They'll invest, but everything comes back to you. You have to build your brand, the way you want people to see you and what will sell you out there,” Vinka said.
Success Starts With the Artist
Vinka explained that while labels provide resources such as music production, promotion, styling and songwriting, it is the artist's responsibility to maximize those opportunities.
She encouraged young musicians to stay disciplined, remain consistent and create a unique identity that sets them apart in the industry.
Lessons From Experience
Having built a successful career under Swangz Avenue, Vinka believes talent alone is not enough to achieve lasting success.
Her message serves as a reminder that while record labels can open doors, it is ultimately the artist's passion, consistency and personal branding that determine how far they go in the music industry.
