Swangz Avenue singer Vinka has opened up about the realities of balancing a successful music career with the responsibilities of motherhood.
Speaking during a YouTube interview, the singer admitted that the transition has been far from easy since welcoming her daughter in early 2021.
Vinka revealed that she breastfed her baby for only four months before work commitments forced her back on the road, beginning a daily struggle to balance family and career.
The Guilt of Leaving Her Baby
One of the most emotional moments came when she had to travel to South Sudan for a performance shortly after giving birth.
The show had been booked months before her delivery, and cancelling was not an option. However, leaving her newborn behind filled her with guilt and uncertainty.
“I started questioning whether what I was doing as a mother and what my child would think of me. Balancing is the hardest thing, but with time you get used to it,” Vinka said.
Why She Doesn't Travel With Her Daughter
Unlike some musicians who take their children on tour, Vinka said she prefers leaving her daughter at home because of the unpredictable nature of her work.
She believes constant travel would be more disruptive than beneficial for a young child.
