Singer Ritah Dancehall has opened up about the struggle of building a solo music career, admitting that she is still finding it difficult to secure enough bookings.
Ritah, who previously worked as a dancer for Sheebah Karungi, said the transition into music has not been as easy as she expected, particularly when it comes to getting paid performance opportunities.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Ritah revealed that she currently does not have many shows of her own.
Sheebah Still Gives Her a Platform
Despite the challenges, Ritah said Sheebah has remained one of the people supporting her career.
According to the singer, whenever Sheebah has a performance, she gives her an opportunity to perform as a curtain raiser before taking the stage herself.
“I don't have many bookings yet, but every show she performs at, she gives me a chance to curtain raise for her before she performs, and on top of that, she pays me some little money,” she said.
Ritah said the continued support has helped her remain active as she works to establish her own identity in the competitive music industry.
From Dancer to Singer
Ritah's relationship with Sheebah dates back to her days as part of the singer's dance team before she decided to pursue music independently.
Although she is now focused on her own music career, Ritah's latest revelation suggests that the bond between the two has remained strong.
For now, Ritah is still searching for her big breakthrough—but she has Sheebah in her corner.
