Events promoter Norbert Twezire, popularly known as Nobat Events, has opened up about his experiences working with Ugandan musicians, naming Ray G as the most difficult artiste he has dealt with.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Nobat claimed Ray G's calm public image is very different from his personality behind the scenes.
According to the promoter, he was among the first people to organise a major and successful show for Ray G in Kampala, giving him firsthand experience working with the singer.
“Ray G is a very, very hard and difficult person to work with. I was the first person to organise Ray G a big and successful music show in Kampala,” he partly said.
Nobat went on to describe the contrast between Ray G's public and private personalities.
“On camera, you may think that Ray G is too calm and you can simply pour milk on him and bathe with it, but wait until the cameras are off and he bares his teeth. The guy is a different version of what he portrays on camera. I've worked with difficult artists, but he tops the list,” he added.
‘I Regret Investing in Weasel’
Nobat also revealed that Weasel Manizo remains the musician he most regrets investing money in.
The promoter described the experience as particularly painful, claiming the financial investment left him deeply disappointed.
“The artist I regret investing my money in is Weasel. Sometimes I sit down and cry, but I leave everything to God,” he said.
Nobat's remarks offer a glimpse into some of the challenges promoters face when dealing with artistes, particularly when expectations around business, performances and investments fail to align.
