Gossip monger Isaac Katende, popularly known as Kasuku, has insisted that he has never received government payouts, saying he relies on money he earns through his own work.
Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, Kasuku said he has largely supported himself financially and continues to operate on his personal budget.
He explained that the only money he recalls receiving from the government was Shs1 million given to him by President Yoweri Museveni earlier this year as a transport refund after he hosted the Jazz with Jajja event.
“I have never received money from the government. I am a hardworking person who makes personal cash. I survive on my own budget. So far, the money from the government I have received in my life is the Shs1 million, which was given to me for a transport refund when I met the President,” he said.
Kasuku added that he is still waiting for Museveni to fulfil a reported promise to support YouTubers and bloggers with Shs5 billion.
His remarks come amid discussions about government support for online content creators and the funding opportunities available to people working in Uganda’s digital media industry.
