Mpaka Records boss, Ykee Benda has made a call to music promoters to stop giving much priority to Nigerian musicians over local stars.
Ykee Benda explained that promoters have been booking more Nigerian stars ever since Museveni opened the night economy.
In the past weeks, two Nigerian artists, Chike and Ruger have held successful shows here and more are lined up.
He said promoters are doing a disservice to the industry.
“Our artistes here have not been getting business for the past two years. It’s just fair that promoters now prioritize them,” he said in an interview.
Many music lovers say local musicians need to invest in their crafts before they are appreciated.
The majority drop fake music with childish lyrics and beats, hoping that the consumers will embrace their junk.
