Dancehall singer Young Mulo has opened up about his dramatic exit from Leone Island, the music camp led by legendary artist Jose Chameleone.
Young Mulo rose to fame under Leone Island, releasing back-to-back hits that dominated Ugandan airwaves and positioned him as one of the promising voices in dancehall at the time. However, behind the scenes, things were not as smooth as fans believed.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mulo alleged that his fallout with Chameleone stemmed from a lucrative endorsement deal worth over UGX 200 million that he claims was blocked.
According to the singer, a company approached Leone Island seeking to sign him for a brand endorsement. But instead of letting the deal proceed, Mulo says Chameleone allegedly redirected the opportunity to himself.
“I left a frustrated man. He blocked my deal which was over two hundred million Uganda shillings. The company came looking for me, however he influenced them to go for himself. Carzola was the one behind that promotion,” Mulo explained.
Despite the bitterness surrounding the alleged incident, Young Mulo maintains that he remains grateful to Chameleone for shaping his early music journey. He credits Leone Island for giving him the platform that introduced him to mainstream success.
Since leaving the camp, Mulo has focused on building his solo career, determined to prove that his talent can stand independently beyond the shadow of Leone Island.
While the claims have stirred conversation among fans, Jose Chameleone is yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
