The Grade two Magistrate of Lamwo district Richard Oluge, is being held at the Gulu Central Prison coolers for receiving a bribe of a paltry 300,000shs.
According to reports, the broke Oluge received the bribe from Okello Dickens, a suspect who was accused of disobeying lawful orders days after releasing him on bail.
According to the Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema, the judge issued a non-cash bail of 300,000 Shillings to the accused but followed him up later asking for the same pocket change for helping the suspect get bail.
Okello was however sharp like a city dweller that he alerted the Inspectorate of Government with whom they worked to set a trap for Oluge and arrested him from Apollo grounds in Kitgum moments after receiving the bribe.
The intelligent Okello who was not about to lose his hard earned money to some broke judge recorded the conversations between him and the magistrate while the officer from the IGG also witnessed the magistrate receiving the money from the suspect in the afternoon of Tuesday.
Oluge will now be transferred to the Anti-corruption Court where he will be charged.
