A cloud of horror covered Majanji in Busia district on Sunday afternoon when a Uganda People's Defense Forces-UPDF officer turned a gun on himself sending own life 6 ft under.
According to eye witnesses, Private Jimmy Oryema, a UPDF soldier attached to Rubongi military barracks in Tororo fired several bullets in the air before turning the gun to his sorry life.
Private Oryema went bonkers and started shooting in the air aimlessly before ending his own life following a drinking spree at Bumali Bar in Bulwande trading center in Majanji Sub-county.
During the drinking session, Oryema accused Phionah Mutunda, one of the attendants of stealing unspecified amount of money from him, but the lady claims he only 20,000 shs, which he used to drink, before he started complaining.
She says that her attempt to explain to Oryema that he had used up the money didn't yield any results and he fired five bullets in the air before shooting himself twice in the head.
Captain Isaac Oware, the 3rd Division army spokesman describes Oryem's act as an isolated case. Police are holding the accused bar attendant to help with investigations.
The incident comes barely a week after a UPDF officer went bonkers and shot 7 people in Makindye.
