Former Member of Parliament from Makindye West constituency, Yusuf Nsubuga Nsambu has died.

Nsambu, as he is commonly known to many, is a former legislator, lawyer and Conservative Party (CP) leader served in the Constituent Assembly (CA), the Sixth and Seventh Parliament before being replaced by Hussein Kyanjo in 2006.

He served as Buganda Kingdom 2nd Deputy Prime Minister (Katikiiro) and Minister for Heritage, Royal Tombs and Tourism, and was part of the team that drafted the constitution of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.

Former Lubaga South Member of Parliament and Conservative party President, John Ken Lukyamuzi confirmed Nsambu's death explaining that he has been unwell for some time and died last night at his home in Makindye.

Lukyamuzi said the party, the country and Buganda had lost a great person, adding that Nsambu is one of the rare legislators whom he said stuck to what he wanted and never changed positions overnight.

The body is currently at Makindye-Madilisa and will soon be transferred to Mabanda-Butambala for burial at 4pm today.

Apollo Makubuya, the third Deputy Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom who was reported to be spearheading the burial arrangements, when contacted, noted that he was not in position to comment requesting for more time.
