CNOOC Uganda Limited today handed over the Ikamiiro Police Beat to the Uganda Police Force, Hoima District.

As a good neighbor and in a bid to enhance the win-win relationship with the communities, CNOOC Uganda Limited constructed the police beat with the intention to boost security efforts in the area.

The land was donated by residents of Hoima district to the Uganda Police Force for the construction of a Police Beat.

CNOOC Uganda Limited through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs supported the initiative and constructed the police beat.

The police beat consists of a partitioned container with a holding cell and a reception area. Also constructed at the Police Beat is a VIP latrine with a bath shelter which will be used by the police officers stationed at the Police Beat.

“Supporting the Uganda Police is part of CNOOC Uganda Limited’s policy as a good neighbor to the local community. We hope that the police beat shall go a long way to guarantee security for the residents”, said Aminah Bukenya, the Public Relations Supervisor, CNOOC Uganda Limited during the Police beat handover ceremony.

“CNOOC Uganda Limited has done many CSR programs and we are happy that this is also one of their accomplishments. We thank you for this initiative and we pledge our continued support as your host communities,” commented the Resident District representative, Hoima District, Ekoom John Stephen.

Emphasizing CNOOC Uganda Limited’s dedication to various efforts, Aminah Bukenya noted that the company has supported the education and health sectors both in Hoima and the rest of the country.

“Thank you CNOOC Uganda Limited for supporting the communities in education, sports, security, and road safety among other sectors. We as the people of Ikamiiro are very grateful for this support and for the Police Beat which will boost the security of the area,” said Mr. Bigirwa the LCI Chairperson for Ikamiiro.

The District Police Commander appreciated CNOOC Uganda Limited’s contribution as it will go a long way in boosting the security of the area.
