A team from the Uganda Revenue Authority URA, led by Commissioner General Doris Akol is today expected to return and face the no nonsense Parliament’s Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) chaired by Bugweri County MP Abdul Katuntu.
The team first appeared before the committee on Wednesday last week when Akol distanced herself from the primary role of pushing for the payment of Shs. 6billion Presidential Handshake, saying that that this wasn’t originally her idea.
According to a letter presented before the committee by, Ruhindi makes a case for a reward to the winning team. Akol told the committee that Ruhindi proposed a team of 24 officials for the reward.
She added that she only became involved in the process when President Museveni summoned her for a meeting on May 17, 2015.
The committee resolved that Akol together with former Attorney General Ruhindi appear before the committee jointly today Monday.
Meanwhile, Akol also came under censure over accusations that she smuggled in individuals on the list of beneficiaries with the list shooting from 24 originally compiled by former Attorney General to 42. She however failed to explain the rise in numbers.
