A woman and her one-year-old child are dead after a tree fell and hit them. The incident happened in Kagadi district.
It is reported that Prudence Musimenta, a resident of Kihumuro B village in Kijumuro parish in Burora sub-county was hit to death by a falling tree together with her baby at around 2:30 pm on Wednesday when.
According to Valence Hakizimaana the Burora Sub-county LCIII Chairperson, the two had gone to collect firewood in the bush when they were hit by the tree.
Hakizimana adds that residents heard Musimenta screaming for help and rushed to check what was happening but it was too late to save her life together with that of her child.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, says that police picked up the bodies and conveyed them to Kagadi general hospital for postmortem before handing them to their relatives for burial.
