Detectives in Kiira Region are hunting for David Kasete, the in-charge of Buwolero Health Center II, for allegedly stealing government drugs.

This comes after residents reported to the Jinja Resident District Commissioner, Elijah Madoi, about the lack of medical supplies for the last three quarters.

According to Scovia Mbatya a resident from the same area, the health facility lacks basic healthcare services ranging from maternal care, vaccines, and antimalarial drugs.

Mbatya adds that health workers refer patients to buy drugs from private health facilities and claim that, the facility no longer receives drugs from National Medical Stores- NMS.

Madoi says records from the district health department indicate that the health center received drugs for the past three quarters. He adds that Kasete has refused to submit returns indicating the drugs that were supplied to the facility in November.

James Mubi, the Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson, says that they recovered anti-malarial drugs, family planning pills, injectable medicines, and pieces of cotton wool, among other items from Buwolero's shop.
