Police in Mukono are investigating a tragic incident at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, where a Senior Six student named Kevin Nsamba, 21, drowned in the school's swimming pool.
The incident happened Sunday evening around 5:30 p.m. Nsamba had just finished a football match with his friends and, along with other students, headed to the pool where a swimming session was already happening with a lifeguard on duty.
According to police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Nsamba reportedly jumped into the deep end. Later that night, after a movie session, students realized Nsamba was missing. After an all-night search came up empty, his disappearance was reported to school officials, and police were finally contacted on Monday around noon.
That's when Nsamba's body was discovered in the pool.
A full team of investigators, including detectives and forensic experts, went to the scene. The swimming pool trainer has been arrested to help with the investigation, and police are reviewing CCTV footage. Nsamba's body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem to determine the cause of death.
