Musician Bebe Cool is the father of the aspiring artist, Allan Hendricks.
The Gagamel boss has long been criticized for neglecting his son's music career and choosing to continue investing in himself, even at an advanced age.
Bebe Cool, however, has responded to the criticism, revealing he is not good at "spoon-feeding" anyone. He explained that it's up to Allan Hendricks to work and prove that he can do music to earn his support.
"It was up to him, it wasn't up to me. The studio, I put it there. I'm not supposed to get him music; he is supposed to work for himself. I'm supposed to pick him up from a journey knowing that he has brought himself onto that journey. I don't spoon-feed," he explained.
Bebe Cool adds that his son refused to switch from Reggae music to other club and dancehall versions, even though they are currently the most trending and profitable.
He didn't take his advice and is unwilling to "misinvest" in him because the music genre he pursues no longer drives the music business. He would only incur losses because Reggae is no longer a selling genre globally.
"It's his decision when he began music; it's his decision on which music to do because I have fought with my son to tell him you can't do reggae music today when other people are doing club music and dancehall music, but he is passionate about reggae. So I cannot misinvest, because if I invest in him to do reggae now, I will be misinvesting. If the world today was playing reggae music, I would invest in him," he added.
Bebe Cool says he will only invest in his son if he makes a career change. He needs to switch from reggae music to club and dancehall versions.
"If he changes and does trending music, I would invest in him. All the producers know that I got him, I gave him that studio, I asked him what to do, I told him to do this but he refused," he added.
While some critics accuse Bebe Cool of abandoning his son, others see it as a necessary lesson in self-reliance.
