Musician Kapeke is facing legal action, having been served with a Notice of Intention to Sue by events promoter and media personality Ssemwogerere Ivan, widely known as Sixteen Promotions. The promoter accuses Kapeke of theft and malicious damage to property.
According to Sixteen, the incident occurred during a school event where Kapeke and fellow artist Karole Kasita were booked to perform at 4 PM. Despite receiving full upfront payment, Kapeke reportedly arrived nearly three hours late, showing up around 7 PM.
When Sixteen confronted Kapeke about the significant delay, Kapeke’s entourage allegedly aggressively surrounded the promoter, questioning his right to address their artist. Moments later, the 'Shuu' hitmaker is said to have performed for less than five minutes before abruptly leaving the stage and fleeing to his car, leaving a crowd of disappointed students behind.
"In the chaos, his gang stole my money and waited for me outside the school. They assaulted me near Bombo market and damaged my car, smashing the windshield. I couldn’t fight back because they outnumbered me,” Sixteen claimed.
Sixteen stated that Kapeke initially apologized and promised compensation after an upcoming show in Kigo. However, Kapeke later stopped answering calls and switched off his phone, leading Sixteen to pursue legal recourse.
Legal documents from Meliora Advocates, acting on behalf of Sixteen, demand a formal apology from Kapeke—either in person or through legal representatives—and compensation for the alleged damages. The letter warns that if Kapeke fails to respond within seven days, legal proceedings will commence.
“We will be left with no choice but to take this to court,” the notice states, adding, “And believe us, the judges won’t take lightly a case involving betrayal, theft, and property destruction.”
The incident has been reported to Bombo Police Station under case reference number 53/19/07/2025, categorized as theft and malicious damage.
