Film writer and celebrated producer John Segawa has criticized Halima Namakula's recently staged concert at Serena Hotel in Kampala.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Segawa explained that Namakula had no songs to perform for the people, and it was a waste of people's time and resources.

"It was a waste of people's time and resources because she had nothing to celebrate. She had no songs to perform for the people," he explained.

Segawa says Namakula at the moment should be celebrated as an actor rather than a musician, revealing she has made more impact in acting than singing.

"Halima Namakula should have celebrated being a studio artist, not a musical artist. While she marked fifty years, I believe she is a better actor than a musician," he added.

Segawa's criticism of Halima Namakula's concert received mixed reactions from netizens. Some have backed his claims, while others expressed support for Halima Namakula, revealing she has had a huge impact on the music industry.

Halima Namakula staged her fifty-year celebration over the weekend at Serena Hotel in Kampala.

The event brought together different artists, including Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo, Rema Namakula, Nina Roz, Karole Kasita, among others.
