For weeks now, promoters have been up in arms, attacking Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) over money from the government.

Promoters, under the leadership of Abbey Musinguzi, alias Abitex, accuse Kenzo of sidelining them and using government money for personal benefits and for a few musicians instead of sharing it with all the creatives.

They claim Kenzo and the UNMF recently received 30 billion Ugandan shillings as a stimulus package from the government, but the presidential advisor shared it with a few musicians and left other creatives out, including promoters.

Kenzo disagrees with them and says that whatever money comes through the UNMF is for the benefit of artists and not promoters.

He advised them to seek a resolution from the Ministry of Gender, where the government channels the money through the UNMF.

"I think they should seek a resolution from the Ministry of Gender. The UNMF has never received money for promoters. The money that comes to us is for artists and other creatives, but not promoters, as per their claims," he explained.

The creatives, including artists and filmmakers, fall under the Ministry of Culture and Gender in relation to the laws of the land.
