Gospel musician and ex–Member of Parliament Judith Babirye has expressed deep gratitude to God for granting her a fresh start after relocating to Canada.

Babirye, who left Uganda following a storm of public controversy, revealed that her move marked the beginning of a powerful personal transformation that has since reshaped her life and ministry.

The singer, who has since established a church in Canada, shared that she has found purpose in touching lives both through her music and through preaching the gospel.

“When I entered Canada, I chose to look beyond my titles, as a former legislator and musician. I opened up to God and started a new life. Indeed, I am grateful. I spread the word of God not just through music but on the pulpit as well,” Babirye explained.

Before relocating more than five years ago, Judith Babirye was embroiled in controversy after she was publicly accused of taking a married man, leading to a highly sensationalized breakup. The man later left her shortly after their introduction and wedding ceremonies, returning to his first wife — a situation that ignited widespread media scrutiny and criticism.

Despite the painful past, Babirye says she is now focused on healing, purpose, and rebuilding a meaningful life rooted in faith and service.
