Media personality Mutoni Etania has sparked heated debate online after openly stating that kneeling for a husband is a sign of respect, especially within cultural settings.

Speaking during a candid conversation on a local podcast, Etania said she sees nothing wrong with kneeling for her future husband because it’s a practice she grew up witnessing at home.

She revealed that her mother always knelt for her father as a gesture of respect, in line with Buganda cultural traditions, despite not being a Muganda by tribe.

Etania questioned why some women freely kneel for other purposes but consider it degrading when it comes to serving their husbands.

“You lot are getting on your knees for some other business, and now you don’t wanna kneel down to give your husband a plate of food?” she said.
“You say, ‘I could never kneel down for a man,’ but you can kneel to do bad manners. It’s on respect where you draw the line? I grew up watching my mum kneel. Despite not being a Muganda, she married into a Muganda family, and that’s how their culture is.”

She emphasized that culture still shapes how marriages and families operate, noting that kneeling is not an act of submission but rather a respectful and meaningful tradition.

According to Etania, kneeling for a husband is not only culturally appropriate but also morally right for those who value such customs.

Etania is currently dating musician Joshua Baraka.
