Musician-turned-politician Nina Kankunda aka Nina Roz is reportedly facing a tough aftermath following her defeat in the Sembabule District Woman MP race.
Nina Roz, who contested on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, came third in the tightly contested race that was ultimately won by NRM’s Florence Nambazira.
Now, fresh reports suggest the singer could be in serious financial trouble, with banks allegedly preparing to sell off her father’s properties in Sembabule to recover outstanding loans.
Sources claim that during the heat of the campaign period, Nina Roz secured multiple loans totaling over UGX 100 million to finance her political ambitions. The plan, according to the claims, was to repay the money after winning a parliamentary seat — a plan that collapsed following her electoral loss.
It is further alleged that her father stood as guarantor, with family land used as collateral to secure the loans, putting the properties at risk as lenders now seek to recover their money.
By press time, Howwe was unable to independently verify these claims. Efforts to reach Nina Roz for a comment were unsuccessful.
