Singer and former politician Nina Kakunda, popularly known as Nina Roz, has sent a strong warning to Ugandan youths, urging them to completely stay away from the country’s political scene, which she describes as dangerous and dirty.

Nina Roz, who contested in the recent January elections as the NUP flag bearer for Ssembabule District Woman MP, says her brief experience in politics was more like going to war than participating in a democratic process.

According to the singer, what she witnessed on the ground shocked her to the core, from violence to intimidation and arrests.

“I was the NUP flag bearer for Ssembabule District Woman MP. What I witnessed was not an election but war. People lost lives. My agents were beaten badly, some were arrested,” Nina Roz revealed.

The Enyonta hitmaker explained that the political environment in Uganda is extremely hostile and unsafe, especially for young people who think of joining politics with hope and passion.

“It was my first time, but I will be honest, I wouldn’t advise any youth to engage in politics in Uganda because I have personally experienced that it is indeed a dirty game,” she added.

Although Nina Roz lost badly in the Ssembabule Woman MP race, she continues to accuse the ruling NRM of vote rigging, voter bribery, intimidation, and widespread electoral malpractice.

Her remarks have since stirred debate online, with many praising her honesty while others argue that youths should instead fight to reform the system rather than abandon it.
