Musician Wycliff Tugume, popularly known as Ykee Benda, has revealed that pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering was not his personal dream but a decision made to please his father.
Despite graduating, the singer says he has never practiced in the field, as his passion has always been in music.
Ykee Benda explained that from a young age, he envisioned a career in entertainment and could not see himself working a conventional office job.
“I studied to give my father the fulfillment that his son completed school, but it was never my dream career. I can’t imagine myself in a suit, sitting in boardrooms, doing a 9-to-5 job. Music is what I’ve always wanted,” he said.
The artist added that he has no regrets about choosing music over his degree, noting that he is satisfied and happy with the path he took.
