Police are reportedly investigating an alleged online prostitution network following an operation in Mbalwa-Buyinja Zone, Kyaliwajjala-Namugongo, that led to the rescue of 27 women.
According to reports, security personnel conducted an operation on the night of May 18 after monitoring a residence in the area for several weeks. Authorities are said to be investigating allegations that the premises were being used to facilitate online sex-related activities.
Reports further claim that a man identified as Ronnie Mulindwa, who has been described in some accounts as a suspected ringleader, is being sought by investigators. However, authorities had not publicly announced any charges or court findings against him at the time of publication.
Some of the women rescued during the operation reportedly provided statements to investigators regarding the conditions under which they were working.
One woman, whose identity has been withheld, alleged that some individuals involved in the operation engaged in sexual relationships with colleagues and recruits, creating concerns about sexually transmitted infections.
Police have not yet released full details of the investigation, and inquiries into the allegations remain ongoing.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations progress.
